Yakushigama, a product brand of Chugai Touen in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, is rooted in the area's 1,000-year pottery history and named after a Yakushi Nyorai shrine at its founding site. Its maneki-neko (beckoning cats) are unique for symbolizing "health and wealth." Generally, it is said that the right hand raised of a maneki-neko invites "money," the left hand raised "many people," and both hands raised "both."
Black maneki-neko are believed to bring good luck by warding off evil and ensuring home safety, while red ones symbolize "longevity and health" and "absolute health." Yellow maneki-neko are associated with attracting money and wealth.
